PSYCHOLOGY OF SAFETY, SECURITY, EMERGENCY, AND RISK
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this course is to provide all the notions, knowledge, and skills related to the psychology of safety, security, emergency, and risk.
The duration of the course is 10 hours, after which a certificate corresponding to 1 educational credit, necessary for the completion of the course of study, is issued.
The course is taught by Prof. Francesco Borghini and is open to all interested parties without the need for prior registration if the course is held in a classroom.

PART ONE
First Section (2 hours)
STRUCTURE, DYNAMICS, AND DEVELOPMENT OF PERSONALITY
Definition and development of personality; personality and psychodynamic theories; personality and social cognitive theory; cultural and natural paradigms of health and illness; non-psychopathological personalities
PERSONALITY DISORDERS
Psychopathological personalities: cluster A (paranoid, schizoid, schizotypal); cluster B (antisocial, borderline, narcissistic, histrionic); cluster C (avoidant, dependent, obsessive-compulsive)
NEUROSIS
Anxiety disorders: generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social phobia (SP), panic disorder and agoraphobia (PD/A), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), adjustment disorder, acute stress disorder (ASD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), eating disorders (ED), somatoform disorders, sexual disorders
Mood disorders: depression; bipolar disorder
PSYCHOSIS
Schizophrenic disorders: brief psychotic disorder
Second Section (3 hours)
PSYCHOLOGY OF COMMUNICATION
Definition of communication; communication skills (descriptive, representative, and regulatory communication); interpersonal verbal, non-verbal, and paraverbal communication; external and internal communication, hierarchical and networked, integrated; communication in the helping relationship; communicating safety and with safety; communication barriers; pathological communication
PSYCHOLOGY OF SAFETY AND SECURITY
Definition, characteristics, and development of emotions; from emotion to feelings (LeDoux's double pathway); psychic origin and evolution of safety (attachment theory, Internal Operating Models); psychic conditions for safety: perceived safety and real safety; irrational safety trade-offs
PART TWO
First Section (1 hour)
PSYCHOLOGY OF EMERGENCY
General adaptation syndrome and stress (GAS); definition of emergency psychology; cognitive-behavioral and integrated psychodynamic approach.
Techniques for managing, preventing, and treating critical event stress (grief, catastrophe, trauma, etc.): a) group strategies (defusing and debriefing) and problem-solving techniques; b) emergency, crisis, and urgent psychotherapeutic interventions, cognitive-behavioral therapies (EMDR)
Second Section (2 hours)
PSYCHOLOGY OF RISK AND ITS PERCEPTION
Heuristics and biases about risks; epidemiology of psychic risk (situations-groups); perception and communication of risk; perceptual distortion and self-perception; risk behaviors: old and new addictions (alcohol, tobacco, drugs, internet); paraphilias; impulse control disorders (ICD) (gambling, trichotillomania, pyromania, intermittent explosive disorder); premeditated risky actions (crimes, terrorist acts, and suicide); burnout.
Third Section (1 hour)
PSYCHOLOGY OF SECURITY AND SOCIAL ENGINEERING (PSSE)
Biophysical and socio-cultural roots of IS (individual and mass); psychology, psychiatry, and psychodynamics of IS; social identity theory; proxemics; mimicry and deception; phases and techniques of cyber-attacks.
Fourth Section (1 hour)
PSYCHOLOGY OF SAFETY, SECURITY AND GENDER IDENTITY (PSSGI)
Biophysical paradigm of Secure Identity; psychology, psychiatry, and psychodynamics of Gender; past and future in individual and couple security.
